Which of these animals does not have vocal cords?
Not all animals have vocal cords. Vocal cords are found in mammals, including humans, but not in all animal groups. Parrots, like all birds, do not have vocal cords, they cannot make the sounds that we make with the same method. They have a vocal organ called a syrinx, which is located where the trachea splits into the lungs. The syrinx work similar to a bellows. Controlling the expansion and contraction of the syrinx as air flows through it allows the parrot to make a wide variety of sounds.
