'Baht' is the official currency of Thailand. It is subdivided into 100 'Satang'. The issuance of currency is the responsibility of the Bank of Thailand. According to a report in the South China Morning Post, Thailand was one of the countries that outsourced its currency production to China. The China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation produced at least some Thai banknotes and coins.

The Chinese state-owned firm is winning contracts to expand global reach and influence on the world economy and geopolitics. The company is headquartered in Beijing's Xicheng district, describes itself as the world's largest printer by scale. With more than 18,000 employees, it runs more than 10 strictly guarded facilities for the production of paper notes and coins.

The frequently used denominations of Thailand are 20, 50,100, 500,1000 banknotes and 1, 2, 5,10 coins. According to Bloomberg international News agency headquartered at New York, Thai Baht was the world's best-performing currency in 2018. According to the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT), as of 2019, Thai baht was ranked as the 10th most frequently used world payment currency.
