Which of these English actors has regularly appeared as a bad guy in Chinese-made films?
All four names in the answer options are of British actors with a reputation for playing some sort of baddy. Christopher Lee often portrayed villains in horror and franchise films. Harry Agar Lyons played the supervillain Dr Fu Manchu in the 1923 film series “The Mystery of Dr Fu Manchu.” Arthur Lee is a British screen actor of Korean descent has played a villainous sea captain in the series “Dr Who.” However, none of these were extensively involved in Chinese made films.
Kevin Lee was born in 1981 in Cambridge, UK. As a child, he loved watching Chinese martial arts films, including films starring Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee and Jet Li. He studied Chinese martial arts in Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang province, China, before moving back to the UK. After working as a salesman and financial consultant in the UK, he trained as an actor before moving back to China in 2010. He met director Wu Jing in a lift while renewing his work visa at the Public Security Bureau in Beijing. Mr Wu was surprised to be greeted by a fan, but then told Lee that he needed a "big" man to star as a baddy in an upcoming action movie. Two weeks later, Lee went for an audition; he stumbled over his lines in Chinese, but Mr Wu gave him the role. It was his big break - that movie turned out to be the first film in the action franchise “Wolf Warrior.” His other works include the Chinese films “SWAT”, “The Battle at Lake Changjin”, “Sniper”, “Formed Police Unit”, and the Netflix series “Marco Polo.”
