Which of these four countries does not have both Mediterranean and Atlantic coastlines?
France along with Morocco and Spain are the only three countries to have both Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines. Portugal, officially the Portuguese Republic, is the country that specifically doesn't have the two coastlines, Mediterranean and Atlantic.
Portugal is on the Iberian Peninsula, in southwestern Europe. It is the westernmost country of mainland Europe, being bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and south and by Spain to the north and east. The Portugal–Spain border is 1,214 km (754 mi) long and considered the longest uninterrupted border within the European Union. The country also includes the Atlantic archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira, both autonomous regions with their own regional governments.
There are 24 countries and territories that make up the 46,000 km (28,600 miles) of Mediterranean coastline. This pales in comparison to the Atlantic Ocean. The entire coastline of the ocean stretches for 111866 km (69,510 miles). It borders North, Central, and South America to the west and Europe, Asia, and Africa to the east. In total, 133 countries and territories border the Atlantic Ocean.
As of 2021, the leaders of Portugal said, "Our nation continues to be one with its gaze turned outward. Our history is steeped in discovery and exploration, beginning with early leaders that, after ousting Celtic and Moorish settlers in the 12th century, focused on building the kingdom beyond continental borders. The world needed and still needs Portugal."
