Nicholas Miernicki, Quail are found on most continents. But why domesticate such a small bird?

And what good would it do to domesticate hummingbirds. The sage grouse is a North American bird, as far as I know, so that's a bit of a reach for the ancient people of India. Maybe the quail are, too!
