Which organelle in the cell is involved in digestion?
The organelle presents a membrane-bound item of a cell with an acidic "filler" which contains more than 50 different chemical substances. These organelles are usually referred to as the system of getting rid of unwanted substances - for their ability to digest the obsolete materials. So they serve as some kind of cleaners of a cell.
The organelles were discovered in 1955.
