Which stele became key to deciphering Egyptian hieroglyphs?
The Rosetta Stone is a granodiorite stele discovered in 1799 which is inscribed with three versions of a decree issued at Memphis, Egypt in 196 BC during the Ptolemaic dynasty on behalf of King Ptolemy V Epiphanes.
The top and middle texts are in Ancient Egyptian using hieroglyphic and demotic scripts, while the bottom is in Ancient Greek. The decree has only minor differences among the three versions, so the Rosetta Stone became key to deciphering Egyptian hieroglyphs, thereby opening a window into ancient Egyptian history.

I admit I cheat! If I can look up a word I'm not sure about I'll look it up in my Webster dictionary! But that's as far as I'll go. I have no cell phone, or smart phone! All I have is a kindle fire tablet. I dont or have never used Google. So if I'm a cheater because I use a dictionary, so be it! I'm a soon to be an 83 year old great grandmother to 17 great grandkids and very proud of it! Thank you! I also have Tesla's back! 😊

Gold Toy Box, yes, Pierre-François Bouchard is credited with finding it. He was a Captain, so possibly it was actually found by his troops, but the upper-class guy got the credit.
