The film "Interview with the Vampire" is concerned with 'The Vampire Chronicles', the story of vampire Lestat. He is the one who transforms a man named Louis into a vampire. When Lestat (Tom Cruise) first encounters Louis de Pointe du Lac (Brad Pitt) in Louisiana, he is living on a beautiful estate. Louis's home is actually Oak Alley Plantation on the Mississippi River in Vacherie, Louisiana. Originally a sugar cane plantation, the estate is now (2019) open to the public and run by a non-profit. It is protected as a National Historic Landmark.

The 1994 movie "Interview with the Vampire" focuses on the selfishly evil vampire Lestat (Cruise). He seduces Louis (Pitt) in 1791 into a life of immortality, where he is troubled by the need to kill to maintain his own life. He later confesses his 200 year erotic and bloody adventure to an unbelieving journalist, an eager biographer (Christian Slater).

The Gothic romantic horror film, which chronicles two self-involved vampires, was directed by Neil Jordan. It was based on Anne Rice's 1976 novel of the same name.
