Which US city has the largest Polish population?

While New York City has the largest number of Poles of any US city ( 213,447), Chicago is the city with the highest percentage (7.3%) of its population being Polish. Total Polish population in the US as of 2010 stood at 8,669,207 up from 1,903,000 in 1900 with the largest single decade influx occurring between 1970 and 1980.

To clarify my previous comment. The percentages were for cities over 10,000 residents.

You say that Chicago has a percentage of Polish residents of 7.3% and that that’s the highest percentage in the US. Milwaukee Wisconsin beats Chicago with a percentage of 9.6% percent. There are more cities in the US with even higher percentages. The reason that I thought you might be wrong is that I lived in Milwaukee Wisconsin for about forty years and knew that Milwaukee had more Polish residents back when I was growing up.

Update: A quick search of the U.S. Census American Factfinder reveals that, as of 2014, the city of Chicago is behind New York in its Polish ancestry population. That survey puts Chicago at about 150,000 and New York at about 205,000.
