Who directed the blockbuster movie Alien?

"Alien" is a 1979 British-American science-fiction horror film directed by Ridley Scott and written by Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett. The film tells the story of the crew of the fictitious spaceship 'Nostromo' and their spontaneous encounter with the eponymous Alien, an aggressive, man-eating extraterrestrial that breeds within human hosts. The Alien manages to gain access to the ship and begins to eliminate the crew members one by one. The film stars Tom Skerritt, Sigourney Weaver, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton, John Hurt, Ian Holm, and Yaphet Kotto.

Sir Ridley Scott (born 30 November 1937) is an English filmmaker. Following his commercial breakthrough in 1979 with the science fiction horror film "Alien", further works include the neo-noir dystopian film "Blade Runner", the road adventure film "Thelma & Louise", the historical drama "Gladiator" (which won the Academy Award for Best Picture) and the science fiction film "The Martian".

Scott is one of my favorite directors and Alien is so much more than a sci-fi film. It is a slick, suspense thriller, with tension worthy of any film Hitchcock ever made! It's a real masterpiece.

"Alien" is a HORROR movie, pure and simple. It does have a distinct science-fiction flavor due to its setting. And it also has the most successful, most recognized tagline in cinematic history: "In Space, No One Can Hear You Scream."

Dan Obannon, one of my cousins, was involved with this movie He suffered from Chron's disease which inspired him to create the scene with the alien bursting out of it's victims abdomen.
