Malala Yousafzai became famous when she was only 11 year old. She wrote a horrifying blog for the BBC, in which she described how people lived under Taliban occupation. By age 12, she was already advocating for the right of every girl to receive an education.

No one could have guessed that such fame would have made her vulnerable. The Taliban considered her activity offensive and made a failed attempt to shoot Malala. She was only 15 at the time. Despite being badly wounded, she survived. Two years after the assassination attempt, she was announced as a co-recipient of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize.
