Bob Hope entertained U.S. troops starting 6th May 1941, and ended in 1990 when he made his last tour at the age of 87, visiting troops in Saudi Arabia in December 1990. All totaled Hope preformed nearly 200 USO performances for our troops. In October 30, 1997, in honor of Bob Hope and his extensive humanitarian work, the members of both houses unanimously passed Resolution 75 making Bob Hope an Honorary Veteran. Hope was the first and to date the only individual so honored in the history of the United States.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United

States of America in Congress assembled, That Congress--

(1) extends its gratitude, on behalf of the American people,

to Leslie Townes (Bob) Hope for his lifetime of accomplishments

and service on behalf of United States military service members;

and

(2) confers upon Leslie Townes (Bob) Hope the status of an

honorary veteran of the United States Armed Forces.
