Mansa Musa was a glorious mansa (supreme ruler) of Mali, a medieval country in Africa. He descended from the dynasty of Keita and was in power from 1307 (or 1312) till 1332 (or 1337). His uncle, Sundiata Keita, was a founder of Mali Empire.

During Mansa Musa's regiment Mali reached the highest degree of its power, size and cultural advance. The main reason for his incredible glory that exceeded the bounds of Mali was his Hajj to Mecca in 1324. All the way to the sacred site the ruler rode a horse and was accompanied by a huge group of people numbered, according to different data, from 60 to 80 thousand. Musa's journey through Cairo and Medina, trains of camels and hundreds of slaves, the grandeur of the whole procession and the ruler's lavishness brought him great fame across Asia and Europe.

It's amazing but in 2012 the experts of the Сelebrity Net Worth announced him the richest man of all times. Under the conditions of 2012 his fortune was estimated at 400 billion US dollars!
