Barbara Stanwyck July 16, 1907 – January 20, 1990) was a prominent American actress. She was a film and television star, known during her 60-year career as an excellent professional with a strong, true-to-life screen presence. She was adored by many successful directors. Her stage career was short but notable. She left theater in the late 1920s to start her fruitful Hollywood career. She was the highest-paid US woman in 1944.
