Marlon Brando, Jr. (April 3, 1924 – July 1, 2004) was an American actor, film director, and activist. He brought a gripping realism to acting and is considered to be one of the most remarkable and influential actors in history. Brando also popularized Stanislavski acting system, which is the most popular and common technique of acting nowadays. Brando won an Oscar for his performance in On the Waterfront (1954) and for his work in Vito Corleone in The Godfather (1972) as well. Brando was always an active citizen, taking part in a lot of African-American and American-Indian movements.
