Who is this?

Steve McQueen, well-known by the nickname "The King of Cool", was an outstanding American actor born on the 24th of March, 1930. He was famous for his anti-hero roles and was also very restive in life: McQueen was always straight and combative with his directors and producers, which, anyway, didn't prevent him from becoming the highest-paid movie star in the world in 1974.

McQueen is best known for his work in The Cincinnati Kid, The Thomas Crown Affair, Bullitt, The Getaway, and Papillon.

Steve died on the 7th of November, 1980 and was only 50 years old. Nevertheless, he managed to become a true icon of his epoch. The influence of the King of Cool still remains strong.

Tim Higgins - One of my father's family, during WWII, a 19 yr. old co-pilot and his entire crew was shot down over Germany and imprisoned at that horrible Stalag Luft three prison camp that was made famous by that same movie. Our young man said "When the Russians came and liberated us in April 1946, I never will forget how big they all were and how glad we were to see them!" Gives you chills down your spine. His words. We had 56 in our family who fought in that war including 6 direct uncles, Daddy's older brother 1Lt. USArmy lost his bf and over 1/2 his btn at Normandy and Omaha and Italy. He told me briefly about it as we stood in his garden after Daddy passed away. Then he said "I don't really want to talk about it." Nothing more was said. We are al so blessed to have been fought for by them all and especially the ones who perished there. We had 14 of those 56 who served their entire hitches in the European Theater. We also have 2 at the USS Arizona, the Murdock brothers. It's all in our book.
