Who manufactured the first commercially available tablet computer?
The GRiDPad was a touchscreen tablet manufactured for GRiD Systems Corporation by Samsung Electronics in 1989. It is regarded as the first tablet computer directed towards consumer use.The Apple iPad came out more than twenty years later (2010).

This is wrong as the wording was vague. Many tablets were achieved by companies not even listed in the 70'wmand 80's. But unfortunately this kind of thing happens all the time

Pierre Poirier, yes, Microsoft developed a touchscreen tablet way before Apple, but dropped the ball on it and Apple slid past. Haven't heard that Samsung was the first commercially available, althoyghas a dedicated Samsung user who hates using anything beginning with a lower case 'i', it makes me happy I got this question wrong!
