"Babylon 5" is an American space opera television series created by writer and producer J. Michael Straczynski, under the Babylonian Productions label, in association with Straczynski's Synthetic Worlds Ltd. and Warner Bros. Domestic Television.

The series consists of a five-year story arc taking place over five seasons of 22 episodes each. The plot follows the human military staff and alien diplomats stationed on a space station Babylon 5, built in the aftermath of several major inter-species wars as a neutral ground for galactic diplomacy and trade.

Robert Michael O'Hare Jr. (May 6, 1952 – September 28, 2012) was an American actor who performed on stage and television.

In the 1980s, he appeared mainly as guest on a range of television shows, including "Trapper John, M.D.", "T.J. Hooker", "Kate & Allie", "The Equalizer", and "Rage of Angels: The Story Continues".

Straczynski revealed after his death that the actor had had severe mental illness. During the filming of the first season of "Babylon 5", O'Hare began having paranoid delusions, and halfway through, his hallucinations worsened. It became increasingly difficult for him to continue working, his behavior was becoming increasingly erratic, and he was often at odds with his colleagues.

Straczynski agreed to keep his condition secret to protect his career, and he agreed to complete the first season, but would be written out of the second season so that he could seek treatment.
