"The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of The Force" is a line said by Darth Vader, a Sith Lord. The line was very popular when it was said in the film "Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope" (1977). In the scene with General Cassio Tagge of the Imperial Army, Admiral Conan Antonio Motti, Vader, and other army staff, Tagge continues to insist that the Rebellion is dangerous, especially if they had obtained a copy of the Death Star plans. Though Darth Vader—who had recently arrived to interrogate Princess Leia—admitted that the plans were in the hands of the Rebellion, he proclaimed that the Empire would soon get them back. Motti then boasted of the Death Star's power. He claimed that the 'Star' was the preeminent power in the galaxy. Vader rebutted this claim. Arrogance clouding his judgment, Motti mocked Darth Vader, insulting his devotion to The Force. In response, Vader choked him using The Force. He stopped on orders from Tarkin.

Darth Vader said his words during a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, had won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the Death Star, an armored space station able to destroy an entire planet. Pursued by the Empire’s fierce agents, Princess Leia races home aboard her starship. She is in possession of the stolen plans that can save her people and restore freedom to the galaxy.
