Who sang the song "Turn! Turn! Turn!"?

The song "Turn! Turn! Turn!" was sung by "The Byrds". This a song that became an international hit in late 1965 when it was adopted by the American folk-rock group "The Byrds". This was the second #1 hit for "The Byrds"; their first was "Mr Tambourine Man' (released in June 1965 on Columbia Records).

It was first written in the late 1950s by Pete Seeger, an American folk singer and social activist who lived from 1919 to 2014. Seeger took the lyrics from a passage in the Bible (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8). They were rearranged and paired with Seeger's music to make the song. Critics said that it had a 'wonderful sound! Just what millions of music fans were looking for.'

This song "Turn! Turn! Turn!" was used in the movie "Forrest Gump" as Forrest says goodbye to Jenny, who is leaving for Berkeley University.

Remember the song well when it was released. After many years, I have come to be surprised at the wisdom the era's songwriters captured durning that time. I do believe most, if not all of that wisdom has faded now.

My all-time favorite band. So many personnel changes, though, as they transitioned from folk-rock to psychedelic and acid-rock to COUNTRY-rock (possibly their BEST lineup). So much influence. Roger McGuinn on 12-string Rickenbacker guitar, Gene Clark (their BEST songwriter), Chris Hillman on bass and mandolin, David Crosby (talented but such a disruptive influence McGuinn and Hillman had to fire him), Michael Clarke on drums, later joined by Gram Parsons (who later founded the Flying Burrito Brothers with Hillman and Clarke), Clarence White (probably the GREATEST country lead guitarist EVER), Gene Parsons (no relation to Gram - co-inventor, with Clarence, of the Parsons-White Fender Telecaster B-Bender guitar), Kevin Kelly on drums briefly, and John York on bass followed by Skip Battin. SO MUCH TALENT! Influenced bands like REM, The Jayhawks, Poco, The Eagles, Pure Prairie League, The Mavericks, Tom Petty - the list goes on!
