Will Arnett starred as George Oscar Bluth (aka Gob), the eldest child of the wealthy Bluth family on the Fox network's comedy series "Arrested Development" from its pilot in 2003 to the series finale - by then transferred to Netflix - in 2018.

Arnett played Gob as a social peacock that exuded a certain type of showmanship at all times, mostly through illusions that went wrong or were revealed by the TV news resulting in his exile from The Alliance of Magicians, of which he was the founder.

Other actors up for the part of Gob Bluth - a role Arnett said he was "destined for" - were Rainn Wilson ("The Office") and Alan Ruck ("Succession").

Will Arnett was born on May 4 1970 in Toronto, Canada as one of four siblings. His mother Alix encouraged him into acting as a teenager after he kept dropping out of school. He started off doing commercials in Toronto before moving to New York City in 1990 to study acting with the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.

Before "Arrested Development," Arnett had a frustrating few years performing in pilot shows that eventually got cancelled like "Loomis and "Still Standing."

However his breakout role as Gob Bluth in 2003 cemented his place as a top comedy actor and since that time, he has gone on to find further success in acclaimed shows like "Bojack Horseman," "Flake" and "Murderville."
