'Mork & Mindy' is an American sitcom that ran from 1978-1982. It stars Robin Williams and Pam Dawber as the title characters. The series was written by Garry Marshall and was a spin-off from his previous popular series, 'Happy Days'.

The series follows the life of an alien called Mork (Williams) from a planet called Ork, who travels to Earth and befriends a woman called Mindy (Dawber) in Boulder, Colorado. The character Mork first appeared in an episode of 'Happy Days' in 1978. Storylines usually focus on Mork's attempts to understand human behaviour.

Dawber (born 1952) was initially a fashion model before switching to acting. She appeared in several television commercials during the 1970s but 'Mork & Mindy' was her professional breakthrough. Although Robin Williams was then an unknown actor, Dawber struggled to keep a straight face around him because of his comedic talent.

Whilst Dawber went on to star in several shows and films, she remains best known for her role as Mindy. The show ran for four seasons with 91 episodes.

Robin Williams (1951-2014) rose to fame playing Mork and went on to star in many films, including 'Dead Poets Society' (1989), 'Aladdin' (1992), 'Mrs. Doubtfire' (1993) and 'Night at the Museum' (2006). He won many awards and is regarded as one of the best comedians of all time.
