Asafa specializes in the 100 m and 200 m as well as the 4x1 relqys. He is a member of the MVP Track and Field Club. Powell was born on November 23 1982 in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, Jamaica.

What a load of rubbish. The explanation does not confirm that Asafa Powell was the first Jamaican athlete to run below 10 seconds in the 100 m because it is not true.
Raymond Stewart set a new personal best of 9.97 seconds at the NCAA Outdoor Championships made him the number one ranked 100 m athlete in 1989 and the first Jamaican to officially break the 10-second barrier.
