Madeleine Jana Korbel Albright (born Marie Jana Korbelová; May 15, 1937) is a Czech-born American politician and diplomat. She was the first woman to become the United States Secretary of State. President Bill Clinton nominated her on the 5th of December, 1996. The decision was passed by a solid vote. She took her oath on the 23rd of January, 1997.

Albright nowadays serves as the head of Albright Stonebridge Group. She holds PhD from Columbia University and works as a professor of International Relations in Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service. Madeleine Albright has received Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012.
