Who was the inventor of Lincoln Logs, the child's toy interlocking beams to build objects?
John Lloyd Wright was the son of a famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. John found his first inspiration in his father's work: Frank took his son on a business trip to Tokyo in 1916, where he was building the Imperial Hotel. John Wright first saw the technique of interlocking beams used by workers there. That was only the beginning of a great work, which has later resulted in an extremely popular educational toy for children.
John named his invention after President Lincoln. The slogan was:"Interesting play things typifying the spirit of America."
Since their introduction, Lincoln Logs have sold more than 100 million sets worldwide. The original Lincoln Logs were made of redwood.

To all those people who think that the answer is Frank Lloyd Wright try looking past the 1st answer when googling.
Lincoln Logs were first produced in 1916 by John Lloyd Wright. Records show that the J. L. Wright Company of Chicago, Illinois, obtained its patent for the design on August 31, 1920 and had the Lincoln Logs name registered on August 28, 1923. Building logs of similar designs had been produced by several other toy companies since the civil war but John L. Wright's version was very successful from the beginning and has remained so to this day.

They may have his son's name on them but Frank, the architect father actually designed them! I read a book about inventions of the 20th century and it was clear that the father invented them for the son to play with (he was attempting to encourage his interest in architecture) and the son got the patent in the end after Daddy passed away!
