Henry VIII is presumed to have many illegitimate children, but his only legitimate son, the future Edward VI, came from his third wife, Jane Seymour.

Edward VI ruled England and Ireland after his father's death from 1547 to his death in 1553. He was only 9 years old when he was crowned. There was a regency government in place for his entire reign since he never reached majority, dying at the age of 15 of what many historians agree was tuberculosis.

His reign was marked by the rise of the Church of England. In fact, he was England's first monarch to be raised a protestant. There was also economic and political unrest during his time as King.
