Jeffrey Preston "Jeff" Bezos is an American technology entrepreneur and investor. He is known worldwide as the founder of Amazon.com, the largest internet retailer on the web.

As of January 2016, Bezos' personal wealth is estimated to be US$59.2 billion (due in part to a recent spike in Amazon's stock price).

Person of the Year (called Man of the Year until 1999) is an annual issue of the United States news magazine Time that features and profiles a person, group, idea or object that "for better or for worse...has done the most to influence the events of the year". Bezos really did influence the world of e-commerce, creating a project that would later become iconic in the world of internet trading. Bezos' success story is widely known and spoken about in today's world.

Amazon treats its employees very poorly. My son drives for them and hates it. He's trying to find a more normal type of work. They've also laid off thousands in recent months.

I've never heard him referred to as Jeffery P. Bezos; it's usually Jeff Bezos!

I can understand why many would gawp at the amount of his wealth but does it really matter if it is $59 million, $29 million or $5 million - it's still far more than any of us would have or might have and what he could do with it (assuming he intends to use it for charitable purposes). We have Rand billionaires here in South Africa but if their wealth is translated into $ they are way down the list - divide 5 billion by $14 and that will give you some idea of how small a Rand billionaire really is. Personally I couldn't care less what Bezos's wealth is
