Who wrote the novel "Altered Carbon"?

"Altered Carbon" is a 2002 cyberpunk novel by the English writer Richard K. Morgan. Set in a future in which interstellar travel and relative immortality is facilitated by transferring consciousnesses between bodies ("sleeves"), it follows the attempt of Takeshi Kovacs, a former United Nations elite soldier turned private investigator, to investigate a rich man's death. It is followed by the sequels "Broken Angels" and "Woken Furies".

Richard Kingsley Morgan, Norwich, Norfolk, England, 24 September 1965) is a British science fiction and fantasy author of books, short stories, and graphic novels.

He attended private school and later studied modern languages and history at Queens' College, Cambridge. After graduating he started teaching English in order to travel the world. After 14 years, his first novel, "Altered Carbon", was published and he became a full-time writer.

In 2003, the US edition of "Altered Carbon" received the Philip K. Dick Award. In 2004, he wrote "Market Forces," which is set in the near future. This novel won the John W. Campbell Award in 2005.

He wrote two six-issue miniseries for Marvel Comics under the Marvel Knights imprint. His first story, "Black Widow: Homecoming" published monthly in 2004 was followed by a second, "Black Widow: The Things They Say About Her" published monthly in 2005.

He worked with Electronic Arts and Crytek as lead writer for their 2011 video game, "Crysis 2".
