Who wrote the song, “All Along the Watchtower”?

The song “All Along the Watchtower” was made famous by Jimi Hendrix (perhaps his most famous recording outside of “Purple Haze”). It was not, however, written by Hendrix. Bob Dylan not only wrote the song, but it is one of his most famous songs and is always one that is requested by audiences who attend Dylan’s concerts. In fact, some think that Dylan’s original version is better than the one by Jimi Hendrix.
