treebank,
Your geography is off by some distance.
The United Arab Republic (UAR) no longer exists as a political entity. It was formed by the union of Egypt and Syria. It hasn't existed since 1961.
You are confusing it with the UAE, the United Arab Emirates, of which Dubai is a part, along with Abu Dabai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al-Quwain, Ras Al-Khaimah, and Fujairah. Abu Dhabi is the largest and serves as the capital of both the emirate and the UAE.

Brian Reynolds,
You are asking a different question to conform with the answer you want. Either way, Sicily is an island and is not on the Italian mainland.

The question regarding the southernmost point of Italy was poorly worded. I answered Sicily which was considered incorrect. Sicily is an island and south of the mainland of Italy. The question should have read what is the southernmost point on the Italian mainland
