carlthedad, Wow! That is wonderful. What subjects did you particularly like? Did you have to pass a graduation exam? or take the SAT? I remember being amazed that a young man in town scored a 1350 twice. Now, some high schools teach such advanced classes that more than a few of them could write the SAT. Would you mind sharing what career you found fascinating enough to pursue? Thank you, Christine, James's wife

monicaligon, Climatic is about climate. Only the silent e is dropped, before adding the -tic. Climactic refers to a climax. Climactic changes the x to c before adding the -tic. I suppose it would be correct to say: That scene was climactic, when those that follow it finish the loose ends and pieces of the story. The word used for the rest of the story is denouement. It might be the scene where the criminal confesses in a "Columbo" episode. Then, the other characters are vindicated or learn the truth about the case in the final scenes. Thank you, Christine,

johnedaura, I remember the difference by thinking that place has an a first. A stationary object, with an two a's in it, stays in place. Stationery has an e for letters. Thank you, Christine, James's wife
