We were taught children were to be seen and not heard and only speak when first spoken to.

the proper way for children to behave when adults enter the room depended an where you were from.

Fun to remember all of those prized rules of etiquette. The good old days when women were ladies and guys were gentlemen and people in general practiced courtesy and respect. Not so much today, daily.
