Christopher Skinner, Americans do not "mispronounce" that word. In both British and American pronunciations, the final ""T" can be pronounced. In fact, the OED lists both pronunciations as correct. Just because a word is borrowed from another language does not mean the adopted word is pronounced exactly the same way as in the country of origin. Besides, language is a fluid thing and many accepted pronunciations change with time, as do spellings and meanings. Of course, it's far more fun for you to constantly take swipes at Americans, so research and facts are ignored and intolerance again rears its ugly head.
