¿Por qué Napoleón quitó las narices de las antiguas estatuas en Egipto?
A ver… derribemos de una vez el mito de que Napoleón tuvo algo que ver con la destrucción de la nariz y la barba de la Esfinge (sí!, tenía una barba de faraón).
Napoleón nació en 1769… pero en 1738, el capitán danés Frederic Louis Norden hizo unos dibujos de la esfinge sin nariz…
Ahora bien, el historiador mameluco Taqi al-Din Ahmad ibn 'Ali ibn 'Abd al-Qadir ibn Muhammad al-Maqrizi (o sólo “Al-Maqrizi”) escribió en el siglo XV que la pérdida de la nariz de la esfinge se debe a un musulmán sufí de 1378: Muhammad Saim al-Dahr, que, al enterarse de que los campesinos le ofrecían tributo a la esfinge (“talismán del Nilo”, como se refería a ella) para pedir mejores cosechas se enfadó y destruyó la nariz. Los campesinos lo lincharon y supuestamente está enterrado en las cercanías de la esfinge… todo lo anterior, también está por verse.
