According to reports, the number of footballs manufactured in the country amounts to 60 million balls every year.

Sialkot’s partnership with football stretches to over 200 factories along with almost 2000 stitching centres. The city’s football factories, along with factories for clothes and other sporting goods, bring in billions of dollars a year. According to reports, 99% of Sialkot’s production is exported to countries across the world.

The city of Sialkot in Pakistan produces as many as 60 million hand-stitched footballs in a World Cup year. The firms here are running out of new workers since child labor was abolished. Western buyers may have a clear conscience, but the 'children of Sialkot' now toil in the local brickworks instead.
