With the movies: One Eyed Jacks (1961), A Streetcar Named Desire (1951), and On the Waterfront (1954), the actors, Karl Malden and Marlon Brando, both appear in these films. In the 1958 film, The Young Lions, it is a world war drama. It is directed by Edward Dmytryk, based upon the 1948 novel of Irwin Shaw. It stars are Marlon Brando, Montgomery Clift, and Dean Martin. Karl Malden is not featured in this film. Marlon Brando however has a key role; he is a German who hopes Adolf Hitler and war will bring new prosperity to Germany.

Next, A Streetcar Named Desire is a film based on a work by Tennessee Williams. A schoolteacher from Mississippi, Blanche DuBois, arrives at the New Orleans apartment of her sister, Stella Kowalski. She has no money and is living a very unhappy life. She has conflicts with Stella's husband (Brando). In the end she loses her grip on reality.

Lastly, Brando is a tough prize fighter turned longshoreman in On the Waterfront. It is an emotional tale of personal failure and social corruption. Here the key player (Brando) faces a moral crisis as he must decide whether or not to remain loyal to a mob-connected union boss.
