After a 33 year hiatus, Steven Spielberg submitted which of his films as a college graduation requirement?
In 2002, Steven Spielberg finally finished college after a 33 year hiatus. He turned in "Schindler’s List" (1993) for his student film requirement. All he needed was an advanced, 12-minute, polished film. This film, based on a true story, starred Liam Neeson as Oskar Schindler. He was a German businessman in Poland who saw an opportunity to help save 1,100 Jews from Auschwitz, an essential German prison and death camp, during World War II. This film in its entirety clearly represents the innocence of the Jews being slaughtered by Nazi German forces.
Film critics have been quick to note that "Schindler’s List" is a very good film in showing Spielberg's abilities as a top filmmaker. With the film, experts say: "He has a firm grasp of lighting, sound, editing, and script management." Personally, Spielberg won two Academy Awards (Oscars; Best Picture and Best Director) for "Schindler's List".
To note Spielberg's career, he sealed his fame as a director and filmmaker with "Jaws" (1975). He went on to direct such films as "Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)", "Raiders of the Lost Ark" (1981), "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" (1982), "The Color Purple" (1985), "Empire of the Sun" (1987), "Jurassic Park" (1993), "Amistad" (1997), "Saving Private Ryan" (1998), and others, made at the end of the 20th century or within the first two decades of the 21st century.
