After the nuclear destruction of Hiroshima in 1945, how long did it take for public transport system to be back in operation?
It's amazing how strong and adamant Japanese people are. After the deadly attack on the city, three days were enough for the Japanese to get the tram system back and running. Recently the city has presented a restored tram that outlived the attack 70 years ago. Even the original colors of the vehicle were preserved – in order to remind people of the tragedy.

I got it right, and why do people have to question the validity of question and answer? Just because they got it wrong maybe?!

The Japanese are resiliant and forgiving people, now one of our greatest allies. Funny how our enemies of WWII are some of our best allies, and some of those allies are less than loyal.

It's awesome to see how Hiroshima recovered after the bombing. Just 3 days after the devastation, they were rebuilding their city. They have a wonderful culture that the world could learn from.

Creo que falta decir " donde" . Debe haber una zona central de daño en que hubo radiación peligrosa por más de 3 días.

Corey Taylor, Totally agree. Many more allies would have died, had it not brought a sudden end to the war. POWs, including my father, might not have survived, had the war continued for longer.

I only guessed at 3 weeks, not because I thought that the Japanese couldn't do it, I just thought that the trams would have been destroyed so it would have taken longer, I take my hat off to the Japanese work ethic.

MarlineCarpenter, let's prove it with a quick bipartisan impeachment and removal before Putin gets too much more international advantage.

A longer more detailed answer would have assuaged my chagrin from answering 3 weeks.

Tragedy? I'm sorry, but if the U.S. hadn't dropped those bombs, Japan wouldn't have surrendered, and the resulting invasion would have cost at least a million more lives on each side. In the end, the Japanese have but their own government to blame.
