Barrons is the first one aware of what is going on at the Freeing´s house. However, despite her efforts, she cannot prevent the disintegration of that place. Things start happening with the Freelings' daughter, Carol Anne. She talks to the TV. At first, it is transmitting static, during a sign-off. The next night when Carol Anne looks at the TV screen, suddenly an evil being is coming out of the screen. It causes a violent earthquake. Carol announces that they're here. Bizarre events then start to occur.

"Poltergeist" is a clever horror film about a Southern California family whose home is haunted by a host of ghosts. It was directed by Tobe Hooper and written by Steven Spielberg, Michael Grais, and Mark Victor. The film was produced by Spielberg alongside Frank Marshall. It stars JoBeth Williams, Craig T. Nelson, Heather O'Rourke, and Beatrice Straight.

Released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the film obtained great critical and commercial success. It was the eighth-highest-grossing film of 1982. The film received 3 Oscar nominations: Best Original Score, Best Sound Effects Editing, and Best Visual Effects. They all lost to Spielberg's film "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial".

I loved the film. On a sadder note, we should acknowledged the four cast members who died during and soon after the filming of the series. Two of these tragic deaths were highly unexpected and puzzling, leading many fans to speculate on the trilogy’s eerie implications. It has been called the Curse of Poltergeist. Young Heather O’Rourke died during an operation to correct a bowel obstruction. Dominique Dunne, daughter of author Dominic Dunne, who played the original older sister Dana Freeling, met an equally tragic and unforeseen fate. In 1982, Dunne separated from her partner, John Sweeney. In November of that year, he showed up at Dunne’s house, pleading for her to take him back. When she refused, Sweeney grabbed Dunne’s neck, choked her until she was unconscious, and left her to die in her Hollywood home’s driveway The other two cast member deaths, while unfortunate, were not as unpredictable or mysterious. The evil preacher Kane from Poltergeist II was played by Julian Beck. In 1983, Beck had been diagnosed with stomach cancer, which took his life soon after he finished work on the second installment of the series. The same film was met with further tragedy, after Will Sampson, who played Taylor the Native American shaman, died after undergoing a heart-lung transplant, which had a very slim survival rate.

Heather O'Rourke actually survived the surgery, but suffered a second cardiac arrest( the first being in the ambulance), from which CPR could not revive her. Official cause of death was listed congenital stenosis of the intestine complicated by septic shock.
