Scientists observing the animals haven't noticed a preference. In fact, polar bears seem to use their right and left paws equally.

The belief that polar bears are left handed came about because the Inuits (who live in close proximity to the bears and have had a lot of experience with them) say that the right paw of the polar bear is slower and less accurate than the left. They say that you have a better chance against the polar bear if you avoid the stronger and more accurate left paw.
