As of 2017, according to autoguide.com, how much did the cheapest new car available in the United States cost?
In 2017, anyone who was on a budget and looking for basic transportation could acquire a brand-new set of wheels for less than $17,000…not counting taxes, tags, and all the other whatnot that is tacked onto the sticker price. And that was for the most expensive new car on autoguide.com's top-ten list.
At the far end of the budget-stretching spectrum was the Nissan Versa sedan, with a starting cost of only $12,855.
For a few dollars more, the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage was available for $13,860. Fuel economy was the name of the selling game for this model. With a sticker price still under $14,000 was the Chevrolet Spark, a subcompact listing for as low as $13,875, as Chevy’s entry-level offering.
Ford’s Fiesta competed with the Spark at the same level, but with a starting price of $14,535.

7. Hyundai Accent, $15,580.
