Anne Jaqueline Hathaway (born November 12, 1982) is an American actress who has received various accolades and awards in the film industry over the course of her career.

In addition to an accomplished acting career, she was among the world’s highest-paid actresses in 2015 and appeared on the ‘Forbes’ Celebrity 100 list in 2009 with earnings of $7 million USD. Since 2017, she is among the highest-grossing actresses of the 21st century. As of 2018, her films have grossed $6.7 billion worldwide.

Her acting career commenced in high school where she performed in several plays.

She supports several charitable causes and has served as a long-term advocate for the Nike Foundation to raise awareness against child marriage. She is also a board member with the Lollipop Theatre Network, an organization that brings films to children in hospitals. Additionally, Hathaway is a United Nations Women goodwill ambassador.

Describing Hathaway’s off-screen persona, John Hiscock of ‘The Daily Telegraph’ wrote in 2014 that she is a “well-grounded, friendly young woman with a good sense of humor, a wide smile and an easy-going attitude”.
