In 1932 the Summer Olympics were held in Los Angeles, California USA. The Winter Olympics of 1932 were held in Lake Placid, New York USA. In 1936 the Summer Olympics were held in Berlin, Germany. The Winter Olympics of 1936 were held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.
The last occasion for the Summer and Winter Olympics to be staged in the same year was in 1992. In 1992 the Winter Olympics were held in Albertville, France and the Summer Olympics were held in Barcelona, Spain. The Olympic Committee decided that the games were to be held 2 years apart, starting in 1994. The next Winter Olympics were held 2 years later in 1994 in Lillehammer, Norway.
