Gail Platt (also Potter, Tilsley, Rodwell, Hillman, and McIntyre) is a fictional character from the British TV soap opera, "Coronation Street", Portrayed by Helen Worth. The character first appeared on-screen on 29 July 1974. As of 2020, Gail has been on the show for 46 years, which currently makes her the third longest-running character after Ken Barlow (William Roache), and Rita Sullivan (Barbara Knox).

Gail is the daughter of Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) and Ted Page (Michael Byrne) and is the mother of Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) and David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) and has featured in some of the most controversial and high-profile storylines in the soap involving her family and her number of relationships. She is the soap's most married character, having been married six times.

Gail Platt ids the third longest WHO IS STILL APPEARING. Emily Bishop is the 2nd longest, but was retired from the programme in 2019 thus making the character of Rita Tanner the third longest lasting character. The answer is wrong with the way the question is asked. It has been reported.

What kind of silly question is this, third longest-running character? I think this is a new low in questions...what's next - "Who is the 47th most important character in the Sean Connery/James Bond movie universe?

I noticed that Emily Bishop was in second place after Ken Barlow. Then, Rita Tanner third and fourth would be Gail Platt (Rodwell). Why disqualify Emily Bishop ... because she retired October 9th, 2019? She still had 48 years, 11 months of continuous service to the show. Gail only has 47 years, 10 months, as of June 27, 2022. Rita Tanner has 50 years, 5 months of continuous service up to June 22, 2022. Ken Barlow has 52 years, 5 months of continued service ending June 29, 2022. So, either the question is worded wrong or wasn't properly researched? Why Wikipedia left Emily Bishop off their listing, is beyond me. She still had more time on the set than Gail has now. I guess they should have used the word current actor for the question, which would of made it grammatically correct for the answer, but still technically wrong, as the question would of removed a year and a half for all current actors, except for Emily. By the way, I researched Wikipedia and Coronation Street Wiki for the answers. Let's clean up the sloppiness.
