She receives 7 geese on days seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven and twelve. That is 7 geese for 6 days. Six times seven (6 x 7) is 42.

The answer is right your explanation is wrong. Six geese a laying on day 6, day 7, day 8, day 9, day 10, day 11 & day 12. Luckily 6 x 7 = 42 = 7 x 6 = 42.
