"Blood and Fire" is the war cry (motto) of The Salvation Army. The Salvation Army is specifically a Christian church and international charitable organization with a worldwide membership of over 1.5 million people. It is present in 127 countries, running charity shops, operating shelters for the homeless and disaster relief and humanitarian aid to developing countries.

It is structured in a quasi-military fashion, and its founders Catherine and William Booth sought to bring salvation to the poor, destitute, and hungry by meeting both their "physical and spiritual needs".

The Salvation Army was in fact founded in 1865 in London. Originally, known as the East London Christian Mission, in 1878, Booth reorganized the mission. He became its first General and introduced the military structure, which is still in use today.

The current world leader of The Salvation Army is General André Cox. On August 3, 2013, he was elected to the job by the High Council of The Salvation Army.
