Buford Highway is on prime land in Atlanta, the capital and most populous city in the U.S. state of Georgia. This highway is specifically part of the southern portion of the seven (7) lane state road that boasts one of the country's most diverse international corridors. In Atlanta, this is a corridor that is clearly known for international living and cuisine.

The area around Buford Highway is a linear community made up of multi ethnic suburban neighborhoods and shopping centers. Similar to other Southern sun belt cities, immigrants who relocated to Atlanta in the 20th and 21st centuries went straight to the suburbs. In these residential and commercial areas, real estate was affordable and many second-generation immigrant communities were already successfully established and suitably thriving.

Now, along Buford Highway, no completely distinct ethnic areas exist. In fact, there are more than 1,000 immigrant-owned businesses which are patronized by a wide variety of ethnic groups. Notably, there are: Korean, Mexican, Chinese and Vietnamese people. Also, Indian, Bangladeshi, Central American, Somalis, and Ethiopian individuals reside in the area. So, the DeKalb County Chamber of Commerce, a respected body, was one of the first to identify the Buford Highway area as an "International Corridor".
