Cape Verde is an independent island country comprised of 10 islands; it is part of the continent of Africa. Cape Verde is located approximately 350 miles off the coast of Western Africa in the Atlantic Ocean. Cape Verde comprises a total area of 1,557 square miles.

The neighboring countries to Cape Verde include Gambia, Mauritania, and Senegal. Santiago is the largest island of Cape Verde, and it contains the national capital, Praia. The official language of Cape Verde is Portuguese. Cape Verde became independent from Portugal in 1975, and Cape Verde was completely uninhabited until European settlers discovered the area in 1456.

Today, Cape Verde is known for its Creole Portuguese African culture and morna music. Its many beaches are jumping off points for wind sports and diving among shipwrecks.

I have been to the island of Sal which is part of Cape Verde. I found that there wasn't much there TBH. Quite a few unfinished buildings and not much else. Very expensive as they use the Euro. Our hotel was OK and had things going on but apart from that its just a tick off the map to say you have been there. This is my opinion of course, other people may and will disagree. On the plus side the beaches were lovely and the weather was great.
