In the 1993 - 2002 US TV series "The X - Files", Eugene Victor Tooms was a genetic mutant and a 100 year-old serial killer who was capable of squeezing his body through narrow spaces (gaps). His unique muscle and bone structures allowed for extreme elongation and contortion of his body.

He also had an incredibly low metabolic rate that allowed him to slip into hibernation periods lasting thirty years at a time. Between these periods of hibernation, Tooms would feed on human livers. To obtain the five livers that he needed, he would find and consume the livers of five people by murdering them at random once they were within his relevant scope. He would remove the organ from each victim with his bare hands. Tooms enjoyed hibernating at the same location; he would make a nest using newspaper strips glued together with his own bile.

In order to kill Tooms, Mulder had to activate a moving staircase. Tooms screamed as his body was dragged under the escalator, smearing the moving staircase's steps with large amounts of red blood.
