Scent of a Woman is a 1992 American drama film produced and directed by Martin Brest that tells the story of a preparatory school student who takes a job as an assistant to an irritable, blind, medically retired Army officer.

Pacino was nominated for Serpico (1973), The Godfather Part II, Dog Day Afternoon (1975) and ...And Justice for All (1979) but won the award in 1993 for his performance as the blind Lieutenant Colonel Slade in Scent of a Woman. The film was nominated for Best Director, Best Picture and Best Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published. The film won three major awards at the Golden Globe Awards: Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actor and Best Motion Picture – Drama.
